Night is falling Country road 773, South of Calgary, Alberta, Canada |

Remember those red barns? I wanted to pay them another visit before winter falls on us, so I dragged Joe over there few nights ago. The sun, orangey and angry looking (probably because of the fires smoke), already set in the west when we got there. Light was very low and warm. I decided - out of the blue - to work the camera full manual. Why? Don't have a clue, just wanted to catch the light as it was, low and warn, and not make the scene lighter than it really was. Let me tell you, people... it was a bitter fight with the XSi. I Almost felt like I was raping the poor machine. It didn't want to have anything to do with the setting I've chosen, and was blinking like crazy. But I showed her who's the boss, and made her do what I wanted. See? Up there? *s*. Did I, or didn't I, win the battle??? When I worked the photo, all of a sudden a memory was awakened. A song. An old Israeli song from way back when... which describes exactly what this photo portrays. I translated the words to English a bit freely, just to give you the impression I had. See it to the right -----> And yes, on the way back to the city we stopped on top of a hill, set by the side of the road, sipped coffee, looked at the dancing lights of our Calgary, and heard a coyote crying longingly in the field. It... was... surreal... because I... answered... him... *s* |
Evening is Falling The herd gathers at the outskirts of the village again The wind whispers among garden fences again The rose dreams again, quietly |
