Holy place An outside wall of the church of the Holy Sepulchre, The old city of Jerusalem, Israel
I've found another photo from Jerusalem, taken by Joe, that we want to share with you. This is part of the building that is the church of the Holy Sepulchre in the old city of Jerusalem. Something in the textures of the stone and the striking light hinted this photo should see the light of day *s*. |
The site of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the old city of Jerusalem is believed by many Christians to be Golgotha, where the New Testament says Jesus was crucified, and is said to also contain the place where Jesus was buried (the sepulchre). The church has been an important pilgrimage destination since at least the 4th century, as the purported site of the death and resurrection of Jesus. |
